Delicious silicone plate recipes to try with your baby, toddler and pre-schooler

Sometimes it's hard to come up with a quick easy meals or snacks for your little ones. Here's three quick, easy and tasty recipes that are sure to be hits with your baby, toddler or pre-schooler 👌

Don't have a silicone plate? You can use a regular bowl or plate!

Everyone's microwave and freezer are different and each plate is made of different materials so feel free to adjust and make these work for you and your family. These recipes use our koala or bear silicone suction plates as they are made of food grade silicone and tested for children's safety, including being free of nasty chemicals such as PVC.

Silicone bear plate pancakes

Lots of people commented on this one on our Instagram reel last week so I thought I’d pop down the instructions here. It was so quick and easy 👏 The kids have had it a few times now and keep asking for different variations.

You can use this easy oat pancake recipe here or do what I did and cheat with the shake bottle mixes that were on sale at the supermarket. The best part of these are that you can pop the lid back on and keep them in the refrigerator for morning tea or lunch the next day.

STEP 1: Make up your pancake mix. Pour into your silicone koala or bear suction plate.

STEP 2: Cook in microwave for 1 min 30 sec. Check that the pancake is fully cooked through (might need to do a couple of additional 15sec cooks until complete depending how deep you made the batter).

STEP 3: Top with your favourite toppings. Some of our combos include the no nasties chocolate spread, honey, syrup, jam, raspberries, diced banana etc. Serve with a spoon.

We have started mixing it up with different combos including adding diced banana before cooking to turn it into banana pancakes. You can also do the same with frozen berries by mixing into the batter before cooking to create berry pancakes  these options are great on their own.

Clean up is so easy as you can just wash your bear and koala silicone suction plates in the dishwasher  no messy fry pans!

Yoghurt bark using your bear as a mould

Yoghurt bark is a great healthy baby, toddler and kid recipe which is perfect for snacks, fun for dessert and great in this warm weather.

INGREDIENTS: Yoghurt, chopped fresh fruit, optional extras dried fruit, muesli or cereal.

HOW TO: Fill your silicone plate with approx. 0.5 cm of yoghurt (the thicker it is the harder it is to break later), stir in chopped fruit such as berries, mango, kiwi etc. or what ever is your child prefers. For added texture sprinkle muesli, cereal or dried fruit such as sultanas or cranberries on top. Pop in the freezer for minimum 1 hour.

Remove from the freezer, break into chunks and serve immediately ready for snack time.

Silicone suction plate omelette

This one is a nice easy family friendly recipe idea. Great for babies who are comfortable with solids, toddlers and older children. It also makes a great breakfast, lunch or dinner option if you are short on time as it takes just a couple of minutes to prepare and is so easy to clean up.

INGREDIENTS: 1 egg, 1 table spoon milk (or substitute).

TOPPINGS: Some ideas to try – finely chopped/grated vegetables, grated cheese, bacon bits, diced ham, shredded chicken, etc.

HOW TO: In your plate or bowl whisk together the egg and milk. Add your diced toppings and stir through (I like to top with the grated cheese – yum!).

Microwave for 30 seconds, give it a stir, cook a further 30 seconds, stir again then use 15-20 sec intervals until the egg is fully cooked through (times may vary between microwaves).

The best part? Once your little one has eaten the clean up is easy as our silicone plate and bowl range is dishwasher safe on the top shelf.
